What is Volkssporting?

Walking – also called “volksmarching” – is the most popular of all the volkssporting activities. Volkssporting in the United States is sponsored by the American Volkssport Association (AVA) which has a nationwide, grassroots network of about 300 active clubs presenting more than 3,000 volkssporting events each year.

The Umatilla Chamber of Commerce has a Volkssporting Start Box located outside for walkers convenience. Come get your walk on!

Umatilla Destination Management Plan

The Umatilla Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center teamed up with the City of Umatilla and a Travel Oregon recognized consultant, Jon-Paul Bowles Principal of Destination Management Advisors to collaborate on a plan for Umatilla becoming a destination spot. The project took all of the above mentioned a great deal of time and effort for the production of Jon-Paul Bowles final presentation.  We learned a lot along the way and had a good time working with Jon-Paul.
